Director - Anna Reid
Anna Reid joined Pavilion from The Art House, where she produced a wide range of projects including Space For 10 with UK artists and Incident/Incydenty with partners in Poland and the Czech Republic. Previous roles have seen Anna work in London with Connaught Brown, Davies & Tooth, Art & Photographs and Talamasca Productions.

She was awarded an MA in Intellectual Revolution – Postmodernism from the Courtauld Institute of Art and a BA (Hons) in the History of Art from St. John’s College, University of Cambridge, including a year studying Arts Plastiques at the Université d’Aix-Marseilles, France.

As Director of Pavilion, Anna curates the programme, initiates new projects, is responsible for the strategic and financial development of the company and oversees its overall management.

Programme Manager - Ruth Haycock
Ruth holds a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Sculpture and gained an MA in Cultural Management in 2004, from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle. She has experience in working for the University Gallery at Northumbria, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art within the Education and Public Programme Team and Gallery Manager for Eyestorm, one of the UK’s leading online galleries for the sale of limited edition prints.

As Programme Manager, Ruth is responsible for the delivery of the Pavilion commissions and exhibitions programme, the creative and professional development opportunities for regional photographers and project management of the overall Pavilion programme.

Audience Development Officer - Gill Howard
Gill Howard comes to Pavilion from the Arts Council Collection where she carried out exhibitions and collections research, and developed a series of interpretative texts. She has also worked at the Henry Moore Institute, the Kitchen Gallery, the Brindley Arts Centre and the Mercer Gallery. 

Gill studied at the University of Leeds where she was awarded a BA in History of Art and an MA in Art Gallery and Museum Studies. She was recently commissioned to develop her MA dissertation into an article for Dialogue art journal, which explored the notion of the curator-auteur and the current phenomenon of collaborative curating. 

Financial Administrator - Yvonne Terry
Yvonne has previously worked as a secondary school PE teacher; in sports retail and in local Government. She gained AAT Accounting and Certificate of Management Studies qualifications and now works as a freelance Financial Administrator.

As Financial Administrator, Yvonne is responsible for the company’s bookkeeping and financial reports including the year end reports.

Board of Trustees

Pavilion is managed by a Board of Trustees that meets on a quarterly basis. Members of the Board represent skills and expertise across finance, law, business development, education, new media, film and marketing.

Judith Blake - Chair
Judith is Deputy Leader of the Labour Group at Leeds City Council. Over a number of years she has had responsibility for a wide range of policy areas including Education, Learning and Leisure and Development including Planning.

She has been instrumental in developing the Leeds Cultural Partnership and a former Chair of the West Yorkshire Cultural Partnership. She is also a member of the Opera North Board. Judith was appointed as Chair of the Pavilion board in 1999.

Pam Bone
Pam was a senior manager for ten years before moving on to set up her own practice in 2000 where she has focused on advising and assisting arts organisations, particularly in the development of capital projects. She has particular skills in strategy development, negotiation and partnership development in the corporate, charitable trusts and grant aid sectors as well as with government bodies and European sources. Clients include: the Sheffield Theatres Lighthouse (Poole), the Courthouse, The Art House, Mind the Gap, Clarence Dock and the Royal Armouries.

Pam also assists organisations in annual and ongoing planning issues to support revenue operation. Pam was appointed to the Pavilion board in February 2007.

Kevin Emsley - Company Secretary
Kevin is a Managing Director of Lupton Fawcett Solicitors. He is a member of the Leeds Law Society and represents the practice in several external organisations such as the Leeds Chamber of Commerce, the Leeds Financial Services Initiative and the Confederation of British Industry.

Kevin is also a Trustee of Hollybank School and Company Secretary of Leeds Careers Guidance and Connexions West Yorkshire. Kevin was appointed to the Pavilion board in May 2002.

Max Kandhola
Max is a fine art photographer and a senior lecturer at Nottingham Trent University. His photographic work and essays have been exhibited and published internationally. Kandhola’s approach is philosophical; he has been observing and questioning identity and memory, mapping ancestral narratives through history and heritage. The photography engages with a social and political discourse of cultural diversity and ethnicity, reflecting upon the residual presence and its environment, tracing specific lived realities.

Kandhola has published three books, most recently, Flatland A Landscape of Punjab (Dewi Lewis Publishing 2007), Illustration of Life (Dewi Lewis Publishing & Light Work New York 2003), Autograph Monograph, Peter Max Kandhola (Autograph ABP 1996). Max was appointed to the Pavilion board in May 2007.

Liza Kellett
Liza is originally from Surrey, she moved to Leeds to attend University reading Portuguese and Spanish.  Liza worked at West Yorkshire Playhouse, from 1993 to 1998, as Head of Development responsible for fundraising and corporate relations and completing a work-based learning Masters degree whilst broadening her management skills.  

From here Liza moved into the charity sector as Chief Executive of Emmaus Leeds, a community and social enterprise for homeless people.  Voluntary posts have included: Trustee of Phoenix Dance, Chair of Governors of a primary school, Director of Social Enterprise Leeds, and currently a Governor of Park Lane College.  Liza was appointed to the Pavilion board in February 2007.

Arabella Plouviez
Arabella is Head of Photography at the University of Sunderland, running a small but dynamic department, which provides BA, MA and PhD level study in practice-based photography. Arabella has been a practicing photographer for many years, and she has exhibited and published both nationally and internationally. Her work involves the combining of image and text to visualise ideas and issues and the works are researched through working with different communities of people.

Arabella has, with colleagues, been instrumental in setting up a photography research centre at the University of Sunderland, including the International Photography Research Network (IPRN) and has been published, writing about the work of the IPRN in a the Athens Contemporary Art Review and in Work in Progress 3 the book of the second year of IPRN’s Changing Faces project. Her own recent works include 'Deviant Woman' and 'Naristan' which have been exhibited widely internationally. Arabella was appointed to the Pavilion board May 2008.

Karen Watson
Karen is Artistic Director of East Street Arts (ESA), Leeds.  Karen has been involved with ESA since she co-founded the organisation in 1993. She was instrumental in setting up Leeds Visual Arts Forum (LVAF) and Situation Leeds and she sits on local and national boards and networking groups such as Leeds Arts Partnership, Artists Professional Development (APD) and West Yorkshire Visual Arts networking group (WYVAN).

Karen is interested in the range and diversity of an artists' practice and continues to develop her own work. With a background in ceramics she understands how demanding the processes can be but she is also interested in where different artists' practices are positioned within the widest possible definition, the market. Karen was appointed to the Pavilion board in February 2007.
