Crypt Cinema: Charles Burnett / Thom Anderson, 28 December 2017

Alt text

Crypt Cinema is a new monthly forum for watching and discussing artists’ film and video.

For the next screening we will look at one of the most legendary American independent films of the 1970s, Charles Burnett’s, Killer of Sheep (1978). Made on a shoestring budget with a mostly amateur cast, Killer of Sheep blurs documentary and narrative to present a remarkable picture of working class life in the African American neighbourhood of Watts, South Central Los Angeles.

Screening alongside a 16mm print of – — (A Rock 'n' Roll Movie) (1964), Thom “documentary” about rock ’n’ roll, also made in LA.

Crypt Cinema is for users of St George’s Crypt and anyone else who wants to attend.
