Leeds Art Walk, 1 August 2018
Join us for our 1 August edition of Leeds Art Walk. Leeds Art Walk is a free monthly tour of exhibitions in Leeds, programmed by Pavilion.
The schedule includes selected exhibitions and arts venues which are introduced by an artist or curator.
5.30pm: Natural Selection at Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds, LS1 3AA.
Natural Selection marks the culmination of a five-year collaboration between artist Andy Holden and his father, the ornithologist Peter Holden. Follow their journey through the lives of birds, from the building of nests to the collecting of eggs.
6.10pm: A Frieze for Leeds: Imagining a Sculptural Façade for Leeds Art Gallery in 1968 at Henry Moore Institute, Leeds, LS1 3AH.
This set of drawings and models documents an unrealised project from the 1960s that was designed to revive the entrance to Leeds Art Gallery. The proposals – displayed here together again for the first time in fifty years – provide an intriguing set of imagined possibilities.
6.40pm: Leeds Postcards, Village bookstore, 3 Thornton’s Arcade, Leeds, LS1 6LQ.
For the past four decades, independent postcard press Leeds Postcards has been making oppositional, inspiring images; activism by design. The cards are not of Leeds; the name represents a defiant rejection of the hegemony of London.
Meet at Leeds Art Gallery at 5.30pm or join us at any of the venues along the way.
