Victoria Gardens, 22 October 2005 (detail)
Pavilion invited innovative photographic artist, Jonthan Shaw to produce new work responding to the city of Leeds. The exhibition, in partnership with Leeds Met Gallery, entitled (re)collect, featured the new work commissioned by Pavilion: Victoria Gardens, 22 October 2005 and Corn Xchange.
Victoria Gardens, 22 October 2005, is a large-scale photograph in which residents and visitors to Leeds formed the central subject of Shaw's wider concerns with time, movement and spatiality.
Corn Xchange, demonstrates Shaw's shift in practice to interactive video. He chose Leeds' landmark building, The Corn Exchange, as the backdrop to not only extend his conceptual interests, but to also study how consumers of all ages move through and interact in this historical retail space.
